Ice Between Us

We were so different from the very beginning!
I came from the South, and she came from the North. I loved meeting people and hanging out all the time, while she was quiet and preferred being alone.

I liked hamburgers and loved Coke. She liked bibimbap and never touched soda—only green tea. When I chose soft-serve ice cream, she picked popsicles. She even bit into it and crunched it like it was nothing!

Whenever I said hi to her at the skating rink, she pretended not to hear me, as if someone had warned her not to talk to me. I kept trying to start a conversation, hoping to get closer, but at first, nothing worked. As soon as practice ended, she packed her bag and slipped out of the rink without a word. Not even goodbye.

But after a while, I noticed something important. On the ice, we were exactly the same. I loved skating—and so did she.
